FAQ

Below you’ll find the answers to the most commonly asked questions about our association. Have any other questions? Feel free to contact us.

Q: Where do the classes take place?

A: Our classes take place at ACLO Sportcentrum hall 1, located at Blauwborgje 16, 9747AC Groningen.

Q: When are the classes?

A: You can find all the dates and times of all of our classes in our schedule.

Q: When can I do an external workshop? And which kind of workshops do you offer?

A: You are able to book a pole dance workshop with us during the weekends - on Saturdays and Sundays. For all the info regarding our workshops and how to book them, please visit our workshop page.

Q: I have sent you an email, when can I expect a reply?

A: We strive to answer your email within 5 working days. If it is an urgent matter, or you would like to get an answer for a specific date (eg. before class), we advise to plan ahead and send an email at least 2-3 days prior.

Q: When can I become a member?

A: Our member registrations open at the beginning of the first and second semester of each school year. Sign-ups stay open if there are classes that still have some open spots left.

Q: How can I become a member?

A:You can become a member of our association by filling out the registration form on our website. If you experience difficulty filling out the form please send an email to bestuurnoordpole@gmail.com.

Q: Can I bring a friend to my training?

A: If you want to bring a friend to class, please ask permission from the board by sending an email to bestuurnoordpole@gmail.com and ask your trainer for permission. As we know bringing a friend can be lots of fun, we organize “bring a friend week” every year.

Q: How do classes work? How many training sessions are there per week, is attendance
mandatory?

A: Classes work on a weekly basis, with one class that you can attend each week. You get assigned to a class based on the availability you provided, and spots left for a particular group. You cannot attend any other training session per week, and you can only attend classes if you are a member of the NoordPole. Attendance is not mandatory — it is up to you whether you will come or not, although it is nice to give your trainer a heads up. You can find out more about attendance in our Code of Conduct (link).

Q: What if I want to train more?

A: If you want to train more than just during class, you can practice during Open Hours, after fulfilling the requirements. You can go to Open Hours as many times as you want.

Q: My weekly schedule changed and I cannot attend my class anymore. What should I do?

A: You can change your class up to two times in one semester. If you experience this problem, please contact us either via email (bestuurnoordpole@gmail.com) or WhatsApp ( +31645082956) to see what other classes would be available for you.

Q: What levels are there?

A: In the NoordPole, we currently offer four levels. Beginners 1 is usually for people who are just getting started, after the ACLO course, or have practiced pole dance a long time ago and want to refresh their memory. Beginners 2 is for people who do know basic movements already, but still want to improve and polish their technique before moving on with their pole dance journey. If you have been practicing for a few weeks or a few months before joining us, this level might be for you. Intermediate 1 is a class for those who gained more experience in pole dance, and are moving on to more complex moves and techniques, usually after practicing for at least a few months. Intermediate 2/Advanced class is our highest level, usually for those practicing for a longer amount of time and wanting to perfect their skills further.

Q: How do I know what class level suits me best?

A: When signing up, you can state your previous experience and we will advise you on the level of the class you will be joining. If you want to see for yourself prior to joining our association, especially if you have practiced pole dancing somewhere else, we do recommend signing up for a trial class and consulting with one of our trainers.

Q: How do Open Hours work? Are there any requirements to go?

A: You can book the hall for Open Hours at the ACLO website, or their app. In order to do so, you need to first complete an ACLO course or at least 10 classes with the NoordPole, and go with 2 or more other members. We do offer a chat for finding Open Hours training buddies. If you wish to practice using spinning poles, you can only do so after getting permission from the board. We recommend contacting us either personally via WhatsApp, or texting the Board WhatsApp (+31645082956). Please note that you are responsible for yourself and the equipment you are using during Open Hours, and we recommend avoiding moves you do not know, or having a more experienced pole dancer with you to help you.

Q: How can I sign up for a trial lesson?

A: Everyone can sign up for up to three free trial lessons. You can do so by filling out the trial lesson form on our website. In case the form does not work, contact us via email at bestuurnoordpole@gmail.com. Only after getting a confirmation email with details about your lesson, can you attend it.

Q: Are trial lessons only for beginners?

A: No, you can sign up for any class for a trial lesson.

Q: How much is the membership? How do membership types work?

A: We offer two types of memberships, annual (54.50€) and bi-annual (32.50€). Bi-annual membership works per semester, meaning it can either be from September until the end of January, or from February until the end of August. Membership fee is collected by our Treasurer, so you do not have to pay right away. You also need to have a valid ACLO subscription for the season, otherwise you cannot be a member of the NoordPole.

Q: Do I need to do anything to extend or cancel my membership?

A: At the end of each semester, we send out a form for the extension of memberships, or for their cancellation. You only need to fill it out once you get an email. For any other questions, or if special circumstances arise, please contact us via email (bestuurnoordpole@gmail.com).

Q: Where can I find more information about my classes after signing up?

A: After your sign up is processed, you will receive an email explaining the dress code and other relevant information for your training. Please, wait with any questions you may have until you get a response to your sign up.

Q: I have been waiting for my sign up to be processed, or for a response for more than 5
days. What now?

A: There are some periods during the year, eg. Christmas Holidays or beginning of the semester, where it can take more than 5 working days to respond due to general business at that time. Please, be mindful of those and patient, sending more emails is usually not necessary.

Q: I want to become a member but I am not a student anymore. Is it possible?

A: Yes, it is still possible to become a member once you are no longer a student! You first need to make sure that you are still eligible for an ACLO membership. If yes — you can sign up straight away. If not, you will need a dispensation card from one of the associations collaborating with ACLO, like the NoordPole. To get more information on how to apply for a dispensation card, email us at bestuurnoordpole@gmail.com. Please, keep in mind that there is a limited number of dispensation cards available.
